A naval commander has been found guilty of indecent assault against a junior female officer following a function on board a Royal New Zealand Navy vessel. The woman said the commander grabbed her buttocks at least four times at the bar, despite her voicing her displeasure. The man, who has name suppression, was found guilty of indecent assault after a dinner function on-board the HMMZS Canterbury on May 17, 2012. A jury of three defence force members took three hours to come to a guilty conclusion on Tuesday afternoon after a three day court martial.
