Native bird and wildlife park Owlcatraz sold for subdivision

A well-known native bird and wildlife park in Horowhenua is to be subdivided into six lifestyle blocks. The park has 6.67 hectares of mature bush, where native birds such as the North Island weka live alongside donkeys, alpacas, fallow deer, a pig, cattle and other small birds and animals. GBK Development directors Geoff Kenny and Rolland Lamb were working on a subdivision plan to put to the Horowhenua District Council. The native birds would go to the Department of Conservation. Owlcatraz opened for the last time on Sunday July 19, the last day of the school holidays.
