The back spasms that landed 20-year-old outfielder Juan Soto on the injured list Saturday does not seem to be the Nationals’ impetus to sign Parra. If the Nationals sign Parra and make an outfielder-for-outfielder roster move, it would likely affect Michael A. Taylor or Andrew Stevenson. Martinez said Stevenson is stiff but progressing, and Stevenson told his manager he felt better Wednesday morning.
