National grid to get 275MW from Barapukuria power plant’s third unit


The third unit of Barapukuria coal-fired power plant is set to add 275MW electricity to the national grid from next week. “The third unit of our plant will be ready to add 275MW more power to the national grid from next week. Power generation cost from the new unit will be around Tk6 per unit. The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council had approved the 275MW power plant project in January 2014. With the third unit in operation, the power generation capacity of the country’s lone operational coal-fired power plant will reach 525MW.
