Morocco’s Interior Ministry and the International Institute of Information Technology in Bangalore (India) signed Monday in Rabat a Memorandum of Understanding providing for developing a modular open source platform, called MOSIP, that will constitute the core of the management system of the national population register being currently set up by the Moroccan government. Morocco will be the first country to participate in the development of the MOSIP and will be its first user. Under the MoU, Morocco will benefit from India’s experience and technological know-how capitalized during the setting up of the largest population register in the world. The National Population Register will guarantee reliability of the identification data and the authentication services of the beneficiaries of social programs listed in the Unique Social Register (RSU)the RSU will identify families that truly deserve to benefit from social assistance programs. The World Banck is extending financial and technical support to Morocco for the setting up of the National Population Register (RNP) and the RSU.
