Congress is on the brink of approving the first national ID system in the country. In a tweet also on Sunday, Lacson dismissed concerns that a national ID system would violate privacy of individuals. “Those who claim that the Philippine national ID system will violate the people’s right to privacy ought to know that under the measure, only two questions are addressed: one, who are you? 1738, or An Act Establishing the Philippine Identification System. During his sponsorship of the measure, Lacson said the bill intended to harmonize, integrate and interconnect government IDs by establishing a single national ID system to be known as the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys.
