The 100 best images were curated from 106 pictures and more than two million photographs taken over the course of 2019. Whitney Johnson, director of visuals and immersive experiences at National Geographic, called the photo of Alex Honnold 'a whole stretch of strength across space and time'. The images from the National Geographic's Best Photos of 2019 also show tigers in an animal park in Oklahoma gathering at a pool and marines carrying each other during training.
