WASHINGTON—National Cancer Institute Director Dr. Ned Sharpless will be named acting commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, the Trump administration said Tuesday. Dr. Sharpless, an oncologist previously at the University of North Carolina, is also said to be in line for the permanent job of FDA commissioner, according to people familiar with the matter.
