Naripokkho, an organization working towards establishing the rights of women in society, has called on the government to recognise the war babies of 1971 and urged all quarters for taking effective measures in ensuring their rights. At a press conference in the capital on Thursday, speakers from the organization urged all individuals and organizations involved in upholding the rights of war babies worldwide to work in Bangladesh in this regard. They said that many war babies were adopted and are currently living abroad, but most of them were subjected to rejection as their birth was unwanted by many. There is no clear data on the exact number of war babies, the speakers said, adding that Naripokkho wants to end the sufferings of these war babies and are striving to establish their rights in society.
