Narail school building resorts to bamboo infrastructure

The skeletal frame of some parts of a school building in Lohagara upazila of Narail has been found to be made of bamboo sticks instead of iron rods. The bamboo skeleton was first sighted through a crack that developed on the pillar about a week ago. But students and teachers of Naogram Government Primary School have reported that an unidentified youth removed the bamboo skeleton from a rear pillar of the building after the class hours on March 2. “Classes will be cancelled if the condition of the building is deemed risky,” said Md Luthfur Rahman, an official of Lohagara upazila primary education office. Osman Gani, an engineer of LGED’s Lohagara office, said: “We have to examine the building to make sure whether other parts of the building were built using bamboo.
