By - Hawkes Bay TodayThe Napier City Council has this morning been discharged without conviction for illegally supplying alcohol to a minor at McLean Park in February. The council had been charged with selling alcohol on the licensed premises to a person under the purchase age during the wait for the Black Caps' first Chappell Hadlee ODI against Australia which was eventually abandoned. Appearing in the Napier District Court this morning, the council was discharged without conviction before Judge Tony Adeane. Judge Adeane told the court the council had been "less careful" than it should have been. The maximum penalty for selling alcohol to a minor is $10,000.
