Nando's is being forced to scrap its popular bottomless drinks option for high-sugar beverages as part of new Government strategy to tackle obesity. New legislation states that restaurants must not offer volume price promotions on specified HFSS food - which includes refills of soft drinks. Customers will be allowed to buy individual glasses of high-sugar drinks such as Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite - however will not be able make those beverages bottomless. Households consumed 10 per cent less sugar from soft drinks the following year, but sales of soft drinks overall remained unchanged.
