While she becomes the bulwark of organized opposition to President Trump, she sees herself in a different role. One, as Greg Sargent wrote in the Washington Post, Pelosi must insist that facts, not conjecture, be the starting point for all discussions. Pelosi told the Washington Post, “We have to stipulate to a set of facts if we’re going to ever negotiate.”Two, Pelosi must insist on the integrity of our institutions. That promise can only be fulfilled if Pelosi is willing to share power with younger members in her own party. Her challenge will be to use that power to insist on bipartisanship and work to prepare the next generation to lead.
