MANILA, Philippines — Saying it is against the norm, election watchdog National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) yesterday expressed its strong objection to the deferment of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls. “Here we go again, postponing regular elections. But Alvia said Namfrel is against the proposal to postpone anew the barangay and youth polls, which have been deferred twice under the Duterte administration. He stressed that postponing regular elections is against the norms of a democracy. The barangay and SK polls had been postponed from October 2016 to October 2017, and again from October 2017 to May 2018.
