People who have been included in the draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) list cannot rest assured of their citizenship status. A new notification by the NRC state coordinator's office, posted on their social media page on Thursday, says about an “Additional List to Draft NRC” would be published on June 26. The "Additional Exclusion List", as it is being called in the notification, will have names of those who figured in the draft NRC published on July 30, 2018, but were “subsequently found ineligible of inclusion”. Say, of the three brothers using the same parent’s legacy document, two get through to the list and one doesn’t make it to the draft list. The latest step by the NRC state coordinator is based on the Citizenship Rules, 2003, under the Citizenship Act, 1955.
