The meeting yesterday (27) has been attended by Sri Lanka’s former skippers Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, along with the Heads of Sri Lanka CricketFollowing discussions with the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials on Wednesday (27), Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Namal Rajapaksa has heeded the long-awaited call by many experts; to introduce a performance-based payment scheme for national contracted players. The meeting yesterday has been attended also by Sri Lanka’s former skippers Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara who holds positions in the National Sports Council under Minister Rajapaksa. Also present at it had been Shammi Silva, President, SLC, and its Vice President Ravin Wickramaratne. Other major conclusions that have been arrived at, at the above meeting had been:1) Appointing a new National Selection Committee2) Forming more competitive domestic and provincial tournaments3) Giving priority for player discipline and fitness, and4) Appointing a director and a mentor to assist Sri Lanka’s Head Coach Mickey ArthurSince 2015 ICC 50-over World Cup, SL has won only 21 out of 58 Test matches, only 33 ODIs out of a total of 100, and 17 T20Is out of 61 of those matches
