According to the Basic Education department in South Africa, the Africa Union Continental Best Teacher Award aims to enhance the visibility and status of teachers in Africa, promote teaching as a profession at all levels, and celebrate and encourage outstanding teachers. Onyancha emerged as the winner of the 2023 Africa Union Continental Best Teacher Award on October 5. The award, often referred to as the Nobel Prize in Teaching, comes with a significant prize of KSh 148.7 million.
