Pix by Zulkepli OsmanPEKAN: The national-level “Umno Bantu Rakyat 2.0” (Umno Help the People 2.0) programme brought smiles to a family at Kampung Tanjung Medang here, who received keys to their new two-room home, following a fire which razed their previous wooden house in April. The Umno Welfare Bureau (Bikum) has been responsible for building the new brick house within eight days, and equipping it with furniture, including bed sets and sofas. He said the family, including his mother, who was ill due to old age, were grateful to Umno in providing a new house after their more than 70-year-old house was razed. Meanwhile, government retiree Masri Chik, 64, said Puteri Umno members had helped provide a new bookshelf, rubber mats and furniture for his house. Also present during the visit by Najib, who is also Pekan member of parliament, was Bikum chairman Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
