KUALA LUMPUR: Voters should be wary of the Opposition’s promises on how it would manage the economy as it would make promises just to please the people, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic). Najib said this when asked about the Opposition’s position regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) at a press conference after the Umno supreme council meeting at the party headquarters here. The Government cannot function,” Najib said in defending the decision to introduce the tax which the Opposition has often attacked. Before chairing the meeting, Najib launched the issuance of Umno-themed stamps to commemorate the party’s upcoming 71st anniversary celebration next month, at a ceremony held outside the entrance to Menara Dato’ Onn. Najib also handed over state and party flags to state Umno chiefs and state Umno Youth chiefs in conjunction with an Umno flag run that will start on May 1.
