PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's economic fundamentals remained positive because the Government is realistic unlike the Opposition, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic). Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the Government had taken “brave” measures, at the expense of popularity, to safeguard the country's short-term and long-term interests. “They promise things that they know they would not be able to achieve if they were in power. He said the Government has been prudent in its spending, adding that the country's economic performance and fiscal consolidation are proof of that. Najib added that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is estimated to bring RM45bil revenue to the country this year.
