A breakdown shows that there will be a total of 23 passing stations, eight intermediary stations and two major stations in Mombasa and Nairobi. During the Saturday’s event, the Ministry of Transport – through the Kenya Highway Authorities – signed a pact with the China Road and Bridge Corporation for the construction of Nairobi Western Bypass. SGR has been praised as the biggest investment in East and Central Africa and is expected to drastically cut transportation costs of goods from the port of Mombasa to Nairobi once the construction works are finished.
