Source: Getty ImagesThe US Department of State cited kidnapping, carjacking and mugging cases as some of the reasons why American nationals should not set foot in the country. In a statement released on Tuesday, June 9, the department said Kenyan police were not effective in dealing with the increasing crime and terrorism cases across the country. It said increasing cases of people disappearing mysteriously was also a matter of concern. It asked its citizens to reconsider travelling to Eastleigh, Kibra and the coastal region due to rising crime cases. Reconsider travel to Nairobi neighbourhoods of Eastleigh and Kibera at all times due to crime and kidnapping."
