For Disney, a bigger distraction than Sky is the strategic quandary posed by new competitors from the tech industry. Disney’s chief executive, Bob Iger, described Sky as a “crown jewel” asset when the Fox transaction was announced in December. “With the additional content from the Fox deal, I think Disney will look to pull its content from Netflix in the UK,” said Simon. If the Fox deal goes ahead, Disney faces a dilemma with Sky.
