A new survey says New Zealand universities are "punching below their weight'' on their global reputations. An inaugural ranking of Asia-Pacific universities, published today by London-based Times Higher Education, ranks New Zealand's top university, the University of Auckland, 24th in the region. All of New Zealand's eight universities except Auckland University of Technology (AUT) make it into the region's top 100, with AUT just outside in the group ranked 101-110. New Zealand universities are punching under their weight when it comes to their global reputation,'' he said. We are funded at 95% of the OECD average, but we have every single university in the top 2.5% of world universities.''
