The 33-year-old went into the match having taken 58 wickets at 17.05 in 10 tests against New Zealand and had immediate success tonight. His pace was down, as he had predicted, but he took advantage of the helpful conditions and had the outstanding fitures of 2-3 from his six-over spell before lunch.
