The first mishandled situation came when UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier took to the scale for his weigh-in. Per recently updated UFC policy, all fighters are required to hit their contracted weight on their first try, and within a two-hour window. Because Cormier weighed in with less than five minutes to spare — clearly not enough time to cut any amount of weight — it was presumed that the championship fight was off. “(Cormier) came in, he was 1.2 pounds overweight the first time he got on the scale. “The UFC has a different rule, but we would’ve given him two (more) hours,” he continued.
