The New York Police Department is preparing additional security measures at voting sites ahead of Election Day, police officials said Tuesday. Additionally, the officials said officers would be dispatched to 88 polling places offering early voting beginning Saturday. “It is no secret that this election is more contentious than in years past,” Chief Monahan said. Chief Monahan said no permits have been issued for demonstrations on Election Day or the following days. Chief Monahan said the department is preparing for a typical turnout with regard to the number of voters visiting polling stations.
