All cars and trucks will permanently be banned from most roads in Central Park beginning in late June, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday. The move is intended to preserve the park for pedestrians, bicyclists and other non-vehicular traffic, the mayor said at a press conference. Mr. de Blasio moved last year to ban vehicles from Prospect Park in Brooklyn, and said the change has been well-received.
