With NU leading by 17 late in the third period, EAC mounted a comeback behind the game-long brilliance of graduating senior Jerome Garcia, whose assist and triple cut the lead to 11. The Generals were unable to make any more headway as NU maintained the 11-point lead entering the fourth period, 74-63. That was the closest EAC would get as NU, once more behind Mosqueda, scored seven points to push the game out of reach for the upset-minded Generals. EAC was led by rookie John Paul Maguliano with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Garcia added 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. The win was NU’s first in four games while EAC — still without center Laminou Hamadou —sunk to a 0-3 record.
