In February 2017, hooded gunmen stormed a joint in Marigat and headed straight into one of the cottages where they sprayed bullets on two political leaders killing them instantly before escaping in darkness. The killings happened in the presence of the area chief and two other police officers who could do nothing to save the victims that night. Consequently, the inquest ordered never took place effectively burying any hopes of ever getting justice for the victims' families or the truth coming to light. Seven years down the line NTV’s special report and investigations team revisited the scene of crime to document eyewitness accounts in a bid to try establish facts of what really happened.
