Steel company employees charged in Sh86m theft caseTwo employees of a steel manufacturing company have been charged with stealing Sh86 million from the heavy industry firm. Ankit Kumar Patel and Bethwel Kipkorir Chebet denied the charges when they appeared separately before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina. The court heard that Patel and Chebet, employees of Abbysinia Iron and Steel Limited in Athi River, Machakos County, conspired to steal a total of Sh86,159,377 from Abbysinia Iron and Steel Limited. They were also charged with stealing by servants contrary to section 281 of the Penal Code. The magistrate ordered the accused to be released on Sh1 million cash bail with an alternative bond of Sh5 million.
