Kang’ethe was being held over the murder of his girlfriend Margaret Mbitu that took place in the United States of America (USA). “It is true that the lawyer was picked up by officers attached to DCI Nairobi Region in connection with the Muthaiga escape. An officer attached to Muthaiga Police Station told the Nation Sunday that the lawyer was allowed to speak to Kinyanjui. “A day before the suspect escaped from the station, the lawyer was there and they talked for some time,” the officer said.
