Man seeks Sh7bn payout from Kisumu county for grabbed market landThe Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has filed a case in a Kisumu court to recover the land on which Kibuye market stands. Oyare and his co-accused Javanti Kotecha are being sued together for refusing to hand over the Kibuye market land, with claims that the title deeds they hold are forged. Kibuye market is one of the largest markets in East Africa. Kisumu County estimates that the market generates a revenue of Kshs 150,000 daily remitted to the county. The Kisumu land registrar has since been asked to cancel the lease certificate issued to John Oyare.
