Kenyan police not alone in Haiti mission, Ruto clarifiesIn what came across as a verbal response to pleadings before the High Court that has put brakes on the deployment of Kenyan troops to Haiti, President William Ruto has rubbished the concerns as non-issues. “I take this opportunity to respond directly to the people of Kenya on this matter. The mission is multinational in nature and is mandated by the UN Security Council resolution,” he said. In halting the Haiti mission, the High Court had considered a petition by Thirdway Alliance’s Party leader Ekuru Aukot. In the petition, Aukot had argued that the mission is “not only nonsensical and irrational but unconstitutional”.
