El Nino still on, weatherman clarifies amid speculationsKenya Meteorological Department has clarified that the El Nino threat is still in effect following speculations from its latest forecast. In a statement via social media on Monday, the weatherman said, “Kindly take note that the El Niño phenomenon remains in effect. As a result, it is expected that both the month of October and the entire season are likely to receive above-average rainfall, which remains linked to the ongoing El Niño event.”Kenya Met was responding to queries on whether the El Nino rains have passed. There have been queries on why the weatherman now says the anticipated El Nino rains will not be as intense as had been predicted but maintains a message of caution to Kenyans. In its forecast published on Monday, Met said most parts of the country are set to experience above-average rainfall in the next three months.
