Hundreds of passengers were yesterday left stranded as the National Transport and Safety Authority launched a crackdown on illegal PSVs. Road Safety director Njeri Waithaka said the crackdown targetted private cars working illegally as PSVs. “More than 14 per cent of deaths on these roads every year are caused by such cars because they do not have the required licences,” she said. “We are going to go on with this crackdown as long as we know there are vehicles still doing this,” she said. This is, however, a reduction of 6.7 per cent over the same period in the previous year, Njeri said.
