The Centre may approve the move to hold medical entrance exam NEET twice a year from the next academic year. It is learnt that the Union Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and family welfare earlier held discussions to hold NEET entrance exam twice a year from this session itself but the talks did not yield any solid outcome. Notably, the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare started talks over this matter when Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank was Union Education Minister. It is to be noted that NEET entrance exam is held in pen and paper mode and in offline mode and the entrance exam for admission into medical colleges is held only once in year while for engineering, the government has decided to hold entrance exam twice a year. Several medical aspirants have been requeting the Education Ministry to have more than one attempt for NEET just like JEE Mains.
