Muddling the Middle East. Killing an Iranian general — Qassem Soelimani — and several others in a third country is a war by another name. Trump’s ill-considered action is bound to have grave consequences for peace in the Middle East. The other grave consequence is the nuclearisation of the Middle East. Expect the Middle East to barrel towards a nuclear arms race.
