Concerned about the country’s deteriorating health care system, poverty rate and unemployment, the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) is committed to transforming lives and strengthening the health care system. Its Director-General, Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko, stated that Nigeria needs a committed movement of citizens to participate in development in order to combat rising levels of poverty. During COVID we realized that the healthcare system had many gaps and we want to see what we can do positively to transform the healthcare system.”She added that the NSSF is focused on supporting vulnerable people as they suffer more from diseases and illnesses. She said the NSSF has been a strong advocate for vaccination, including the COVID-19 vaccination. She stressed the need to improve the quality of care in primary health centers and announced her organization’s plans to improve the quality of health care in more than six states in Nigeria.
