According to the NPP, the 2023 presidential primary was conducted in line with democratic principles and reflected the will of party delegates. Describing Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s conduct as damaging to the party, the NPP said his utterances were inconsistent with its core values and unity. “Consequently, the Party has invoked the relevant provisions of its Constitution to commence the necessary processes to expel him from the Party, strictly in accordance with due process,” it added. Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV on January 12, 2026, Professor Frimpong-Boateng said the party’s current way of handling affairs is tantamount to corruption.
