It is remarkable that insisting people have a right to a different, perhaps unfashionable, opinion is somehow a marker in the culture wars. A newspaper, especially, describing itself as committed to free speech, contrarian views and open debate ought to be almost redundant: obviously that’s what a newspaper is for.
