The Canadian world junior team and the International Ice Hockey Federation aren’t getting along right now. Hockey Canada shot back at the IIHF early Monday over the disciplinary panel’s decision to suspend forward Joe Veleno one game for a head butt during a confrontation with Russian defenceman Danil Misyul in Saturday’s 6-0 loss. “We believe it is not worthy of a suspension,” Hockey Canada said in a statement. The panel suggested that Misyul grabbed Veleno from behind and pulled him down, which caused the Canadian to fall on his back. When Veleno got up and confronted Misyul, he initiated contact with his helmet by bumping into the visor of his opponent.
