NMC Bill: Exit exam proposal for medical students opposed


more-inMedical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil has raised objections to the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC), 2017, particularly the proposal to conduct uniform exit exams for medical students. “These students would have already written the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test and other examinations during their course. Bharath Kumar D., president, Karnataka Medical Students’ and Young Doctors’ Association, said: “Many students will need to be economically independent after their MBBS course. Ravinandan B.B., vice-president of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) said that students would be put to hardship. The Bill, introduced in the winter session of Parliament, has been referred to a standing committee after criticism from various quarters.
