Among the projects in the State budget on Friday, major works for North Karnataka are primarily related to irrigation. In Badami, represented by former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a ₹300-crore Kerur Lift Irrigation Project has been sanctioned. Some of the other projects are: 200 crore for the second phase of Nandavadagi Lift Irrigation Project, ₹210 crore for the Koppal Lift Irrigation Project, ₹250 crore for the Horthi-Revannasiddeshwara Lift Irrigation Project, and ₹75 crore for the lift irrigation project in Kampli region. This apart, ₹80 crore has been sanctioned for irrigation scheme in Bailhongal taluk of Belagavi district. HealthcareThe government has sanctioned a grant of ₹4.5 crore to upgrade the Karnataka Cancer Therapy and Research Institute at Hubballi.
