The first time I set foot in a court of law was over 25 years ago during the judgment of a relative’s case. Then, I was barely in my teens, so I hardly registered the goings-on on that day. I need not tell you that the magistrate turned up at 10 am. I say magistrate, not magistrates, because out of the five magistrates or so that had been scheduled to hear cases on that day, only one turned up. Anyway, after that announcement, we all trooped to Court One, which was the only functioning court on that day, where most were given new hearing dates and sent on their way.
