NHLPA files grievance with league over Byfuglien suspension

The National Hockey League Players’ Association, on behalf of Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien, has filed a grievance against the NHL challenging his suspension from the team. Byfuglien was suspended on Sept. 21, meaning the final day to do so would have been Wednesday. Byfuglien was suspended by the club after failing to show up for training camp back in September. Earlier this month, things took a significant turn as Byfuglien elected to have surgery to repair his ankle. Byfuglien didn’t skate during the summer although he was on a roster in Da Beauty League in his home state of Minnesota but never suited up.
