LOS ANGELES — Like a time bomb set to go off, the clock is ticking on the NHL’s participation at the 2018 Winter Olympics. “If the status quo remains, I don’t expect us to be in the Olympics,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said Saturday. During All-Star media day on Saturday a number of players, including Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, said they want to play in the Olympics. “For me, it’s the highest level of international hockey you can have.”RelatedNotes Bettman said the league could host NHL exhibition games in China, perhaps as early as September. Of course, should NHLers go to the Olympics in 2018, there will be no all-star game next season.
