Milan Lucic agreed to a seven-year, $42-million deal with the Edmonton Oilers, drawn by the oportunity to play with young star Connor McDavid. The Oilers typically have good summers. But the changes over the past few days — punctuated by Friday’s signing of Milan Lucic — offer a reason to think Edmonton’s losing days are behind them. The smartest team was probably the Tampa Bay Lightning; the Montreal Canadiens took the biggest risk; and the Edmonton Oilers might have generated the most optimism, again.
