The only way more Black head coaches will be hired is if owners actually do it. His only previous head coaching experience came in 2015, when he was named interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins. The recent changes in Detroit personify the stark inconsistencies when it comes to how NFL head coaches are evaluated. He was pushed aside in favor of Bill Belichick’s latest hot lieutenant, even though Belichick proteges routinely fail as head coaches.
