NFL: Patriots shut out against Bills and record-breaking Falcons shred Panthers

Patriots 0, Bills 16So much for Jimmy Garoppolo making a fast return as the quarterback of the New England Patriots. The Panthers were without starting running back Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) and starting left tackle Michael Oher (concussion) at Atlanta. The Panthers scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns, including scoring passes from Newton’s replacement, Derek Anderson, to tight end Greg Olsen and Corey Brown. Newton was sacked only once after being sacked eight times in last week’s loss to Minnesota, but the Panthers’ running game struggled as Jonathan Stewart was held out with a hamstring injury. The Jets were without receiver Eric Decker, who’s week to week with a partially torn right rotator cuff.
